Science and Technology Guests on Late Night, Week of June 17

The summer doldrums continue for science and technology late night content.  No repeats to note for last week, and one new guest of note.  Simon Pegg, occasionally found in these posts, is here again for his appearance on the June 19th edition of The Late Late Show.  He was promoting his most recent film, Lost Translations, where he plays a music producer with mental illness.

My catch-up segment this week comes from the May 29 edition of The Daily Show.  Correspondent Ronny Chieng had another segment in his Today’s Future Now series (NSFW for a sexual reference).  This time Chieng covered recent developments in how churches are using technology to reach out to the faithful.

In other news, former MythBusters host Adam Savage is back on television.  His new program, Savage Builds, follows Savage as he works with guests to build items that often have some element of the absurd or fantastical about them.  The eight-episode series is airing on the Discovery Channel in the U.S. (repeating on the Science Channel).

Since concluding its investigation into the sexual misconduct allegations against Neil deGrasse Tyson, Nat Geo has resumed broadcasts of the fifth season of the television program Star Talk.  Three episodes had aired at the time the investigation was announced and the program was pulled.  The remaining episodes (13 at the time of this posting, for a total of 16 in the season) started airing in April.  There is currently no word on a sixth season of the show, nor on the second series of COSMOS (for which Tyson serves as host, among other things) which was to air this spring.
