Brinkman Helps Bring Evolution to the Classroom

UPDATE – May 16th – I’ve embedded Brinkman’s latest promo video for the project after the jump.

Original Post

On May 18th, Canadian rap troubadour Baba Brinkman will release videos for The Rap Guide to Evolution online.  Regular readers may remember how the project was flogged vigorously supported on this website, and you can listen to the work online.

The new phase of the project is visual, with a grant from the Wellcome Trust and over 12,000 additional pounds (raised from volunteers) used to shoot and produce videos for each of the tunes.  It was prompted by requests from teachers for a DVD edition of the Rap Guide.  There is also a new track out, which Brinkman says is the first track from a forthcoming remix album.  The project gets a proper U.K. rollout (the home of the Wellcome Trust) in London on May 25th.

Brinkman will then cross the Atlantic to the U.S. for an off-Broadway run of The Rap Guide to Evolution.  It will start June 17th at the Soho Playhouse in Manhattan.  At $40 (plus fees), it’s an excellent deal.  But don’t wait.  Fill the seats now in order to have seats to fill later.  If both the video and play projects succeed, with any luck Brinkman will see fit to do the same with The Rap Guide to Human Nature.
