Many shows were in repeats this past week, which is our only source of material for the post.
Re-airings of note include Jared Harris on the October 14 edition of The Late Late Show. A repeat from August, Harris has been lauded for his performance as a Russian nuclear scientist on the HBO miniseries Chernobyl. Natalie Portman was on the October 17 repeat of A Little Late with Lilly Singh. She plays an astronaut in her latest film, and this show was a rerun from earlier in October.
While the promotion hasn’t started in earnest on television, there is a film premiering later this month called The Current War. It debuts in the United States on October 25 and tracks the emergence of both direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) power systems in the United States during the late 19th century. Thomas Edison, Nicola Tesla and George Westinghouse feature heavily in this historical drama film.
I’ll conclude as is becoming customary with a couple of recent segments from The Daily Show. On the October 2nd show, correspondent Desi Lydic covered allegations of extortion against online review aggregator Yelp. Earlier in the same program host Trevor Noah commented on recent struggles Tesla has been having with driverless features in its vehicles (jump to roughly 2:45 for the Tesla story).
