Let’s start the week with items not announced in advance from last week. Foremost, Bill Nye was on The Nightly Show (which is finally listing guests in advance!) on November 10. He was part of a panel, which discussed climate change. This video is the extended version of the discussion. On November 9, The Daily Show had a piece with Ronny Chieng on electronic voting technology. There is profanity.
I also want to make note of Brian Greene’s appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. While having Greene – a string theorist – on is noteworthy in its own right, why he was on is another reason to take notice. It was to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the presentation of Einstein’s theory of General Relativity, and Greene made two demonstrations to help explain things.
As Stephen says – that is the (expletive) right there.
On to this week. Lizzy Caplan, who plays Virginia Johnson on the series Masters of Sex, visits with Conan tonight/Monday. On Tuesday Science Bob Pflugfelder returns to Jimmy Kimmel Live. Wednesday former Nightline anchor Ted Koppel will appear on The Daily Show, talking about his latest book on cyberattacks.
Tuesday may present a wild card. Conan O’Brien recently taped an episode’s worth of material in Armenia, and it will be the show on Tuesday. As his Cuba episode involved a cigar factory, I can’t dismiss the possibility that some similar kind of thing could happen Tuesday night.
