The ninth episode of Science Goes to the Movies returns to a focus on how movies handle aspects of the mind. Hosts Faith Salie and Heather Berlin covers the films Welcome to Me and The Silence of the Lambs along with the television series The Jinx and Game of Thrones.
There are no special guests in this episode, but Heather Berlin is a neuroscientist who has conducted research on personality disorder, which is part of the character in Welcome to Me. And for a change of pace, the discussion around Game of Thrones did not discuss any medical conditions, but the circumstances under which a person might find justification for murder.
The next episode will air later this month, and there is currently no listing of what films or television shows will be covered. However, the guest is a Professor of Physics at CUNY (which also produces the show), so I’ll guess that a big space and/or action movie might be on the docket.
