10:15 PM Eastern – Edited to add that later tonight (Monday) Bill Nye will be ‘sitting in’ with the 8G band on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
Original Post – Most shows are back this week (except Arsenio Hall’s program, which was recently cancelled in spite of a second-season pickup). However, it might as well be a week of repeats for the lack of science and technology guests. Tonight Thomas Piketty, author of an economics book that has attracted serious attention (and criticism) of late, will be on The Colbert Report. On Tuesday night Morgan Freeman will visit with Stephen Colbert to promote the new season of his Science Channel show, Through the Wormhole. To promote COSMOS, which airs its last new episode on Sunday, Neil deGrasse Tyson will be on The Tonight Show this Thursday.
While the new offerings are skim, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report ran science-oriented segments before leaving for a Memorial Day break. On May 19, Stephen discussed the recent policy change to encourage gender equity in research animals and samples. On the 20th The Daily Show wrapped up several science stories in a segment about impending human extinction. One of those stories was on the MERS virus, and The Colbert Report dedicated a segment to it on the 21st.
