First, a note about last week’s program. Neil Young appeared on last Thursday’s (September 27) edition of The Late Show with David Letterman. I presumed that the conversation would be musical, but it was really technological. Young is apparently quite technology minded, and has helped develop a control system for Lionel trains. He has also developed a music service/device called Pono, which claims the best quality digital audio for portable players, as close to the master recordings as possible.
On to this week’s offerings.
Craig Ferguson comes strong this week, with biologist and science television host Dan Riskin returning on Wednesday. Sanjay Gupta returns to the program on Friday. Stephen Colbert ends his week with geneticist George Church. On Thursday Church will discuss his recent book on synthetic biology (co-written with science writer Ed Regis) with Stephen. (In a bit of synergy, both Colbert and Ferguson will visit with David Letterman this week.)
If that’s not enough (and this is a good week), new episodes of MythBusters start in the U.S. next Sunday night. Please check with the Discovery network website in your country for information on when the new episodes will be broadcast.
