Courtesy of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) blog, please visit a lovely little website for the PBS Kids program Design Squad. It got the plug from OSTP because of the National Science Foundation support the website enjoys, and the Emmy it received. (Not the first time that NSF-supported work received an Emmy.)
More than just a promotion for the program (which recently completed its fourth season), the website includes other videos and content for kids to design, build and share their own creations. Personally, I think there’s plenty of content for all ages, though I don’t think you’ll be able to participate in the contests.
Interested in reaching out to potential engineers that you know? Then check out the website’s section for parents, educators and engineers. They have the insight to recognize that it’s not just enough to give kids the content. It helps a lot to have guidance for the adults that might be guiding the kids along the path to forging their inner designer. Do check it out.
