Kind of a full week, so of course I won’t be able to see most of it in real time.
This should be really interesting….Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman of MythBusters are slated to visit with Stephen Colbert tonight. As they appeared before the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear, it’s possible they may just be reporting on the experiments they conducted at the event. However, I do hope to see some fireworks between Adam and Stephen over their different approaches to science and truth(iness). (Jamie tends to let Adam do most of the talking, but they both have a sense of humor.) Colbert continues the science guests on Tuesday with computer scientist and noted futurist Ray Kurzweil.
Dave Letterman is scheduled to chat with Bjørn Lomborg on Tuesday. Lomborg is slated as the second guest, so if Ricky Gervais gets going, he might get bumped. Lomborg is probably best known in the public for being the author of The Skeptical Environmentalist, though his views have altered a bit since that was published. Letterman has been increasingly concerned with climate change, having guests on to cover the issue and other environmental issues. From what I remember, Dave is still under the impression that we’re screwed. It’s possible that he and Lomborg may tussle over their different perspectives on the issue (Lomborg has at times expressed the opinion that other problems are more important and/or easier to deal with).
Craig Ferguson continues to deliver a solid science and technology guest list. Monday Isabella Rossellini will stop by. I have no idea if her series of shorts on animal mating habits will be mentioned, but I wouldn’t be surprised. On Friday, biologist Dan Riskin returns for his third visit. His previous visits involved infestations and critters, so he’s not for the squeamish.
