Today mathematician and actress Danica McKellar releases her fourth math book geared towards girls. Girls Get Curves focuses on geometry, which makes McKellar’s vocal performance in Sphereland (coming soon to DVD) a interesting bit of cross-promotion.
McKellar will soon be taking her math knowledge to YouTube as part of the Nerdist Channel. Those with access to BBC America can see her on the Nerdist science special Saturday night, where she might just talk a bit about what the program is about. Called Math Effect, this promo for several upcoming Nerdist YouTube programs doesn’t give many details (look for McKellar at the beginning of the piece, and again at about 2 minutes in).
You’ll also note Bill Nye the Science Guy and Neil de Grasse Tyson in the video. Nye will talk about the mechanics of bow ties, and it looks like Tyson’s Star Talk Radio program will be presented on video.
